Last week, Heather and I had the pleasure of visiting Reyt Sauna once again—a wellness retreat nestled near our strawberry tunnels. This contrast therapy experience features a wood-fired sauna, ice baths, refreshing showers for in between and plenty of cosy spaces to relax
Contrast therapy, which alternates between hot and cold, is said to offer a host of benefits: reducing fatigue, improving focus, enhancing sleep quality, managing pain, reducing swelling, relieving stress and much more.
We’d already fallen in love with the experience during our first visit, but this time we went back to try Natalie’s exciting new additions: a clay mask and salt scrub, which will be available at her special events. These offerings will be tied to seasonal occasions like Valentine’s and Mother’s Day as well as celestial events such as full moons, making the experience even more unique and meaningful.
The setting was as cosy and rustic as ever with natural wood, soft lighting and deck chairs inviting us to unwind. We started in the sauna, where the warmth instantly melted away our stress. Then came the ice bath—a shock to the system, no matter how many times you’ve done it! The icy plunge made us feel completely alive and we even managed to stay in for three minutes, capturing some funny moments on video to share with you all later.
Next up was the salt scrub and we chose the lavender and rosemary scent—a delightful and calming blend. After applying it, my skin felt unbelievably smooth. Back in the sauna, the natural oils from the scrub were absorbed into our skin, leaving us feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
After another plunge, we tried Natalie’s homemade clay mask. Applying it was a fun experience, especially as Heather narrowly avoided smudging it into her fringe! Back in the sauna, the mask dried, tightening our skin in the heat. It was the perfect way to end the session, especially with the stunning view of the farm through the sauna’s large window.
By the time we finished, we both felt amazing—calm, recharged and ready to tackle the rest of the day. I was so productive that afternoon! Having this incredible wellness retreat just a two-minute walk from the office feels like such a treat, especially as it aligns perfectly with Farmer Copleys’ values.
We’re thrilled to see Reyt Sauna becoming such a wonderful addition to the farm and are excited about the upcoming events Natalie is planning. For Mother’s Day, we’re hoping to offer a package combining this experience with afternoon tea in Moo Café. Natalie is also working on a more in-depth event featuring the full sweat and plunge experience, breathwork and an educational talk from a health coach focusing on women’s hormones.
Even if contrast therapy doesn’t seem like your thing, it’s definitely worth trying for the incredible post session feeling. Pro tip: don’t forget to bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated!
